Anyone interested in putting a team together and doing this? Seems
like a cool ride for GREAT cause. I had the honor of seeing some of
our Wounded Warriors competing in the Marine Corp Marathon the last
two years. Awe inspiring to say the least. As Nick can tell you, I
AM SLOW. But, for what I lack in speed, bike handling skills,
cardiovascular fitness, and night riding experience I make up for with
a strong desire to do something dificult. AND I have a tent and other
camping crap. I also have a large deck on the back of my house where
we can sit and drink afterwards. Anyhow, let me know. duanefonner@yahoo.com -

Hey all- I have a couple of SoCo Velo items to sell- 1 Large wind vest, 1 Large white men's jersey, and 2 pair of Large socks. The wind vest and socks are brand new. The white jersey has been worn throughout the race season (I can't remember who was looking to buy one)? I'm keeping the rest of my gear... Prices are negotiable. If interested in any of these, please shoot me an email- it's on the team list.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the fast response! I definitely want to go but unfortunately I cannot go this Saturday, hubby needs me to watch the kids so he can put up a shed. I am in the process of becoming a SoCo Velo race team member, looking forward to meeting all of you and just getting started in general! I'll have lots more questions since I'm new to bike racing (but not to pack style racing as an inline speed skater). I'm very excited! If any of you want to talk my ear off about bike racing, I got a lot to learn, you can find me on Facebook, I posted on the SoCo Velo page as Krypto Allez. Until then I think I'll scour the internet for info to educate myself, I have a feeling I'm going to have a lot of equipment to buy!

Hi All,
This weeks Saturday group road ride will be to the Air Force Academy so be sure to bring your photo ID. The recreational group will ride to the B52 and continue up North Gate and make the loop. This is about a 30 mile ride which takes about 2.5 hours. The performance group will go the the B52 and return back down Stadium Dr to Pine Dr and then do the loop. This ride ends up just under 40 miles which takes just under 3 hours. Both rides have some climbing so it is considered a intermediate ride. Be sure to bring plenty of fluids and flat repair items. Chuck will not be with us this week so I will be the only ride leader and will stick with the recreational group. As always we will meet at Bicycle Village at 9:15 and leave at 9:30.
Take care,
Steve -

Performance rides are normally 30-45 miles ave around 18mph and go from 9:30am-1:00pm. Both the beginner and performance start together so you can spit with whatever group feels right.
thanks -

Can someone tell me how long the performance rides are, specifically the one that starts at Bicycle Village on Saturday mornings? Also, does anyone know the average speed everyone goes? I am thinking about joining in on the ride but I am a beginner with only a mountain bike, beginner as far as riding in big groups and racing but not an out-of-shape beginner. I am an inline speed skater and I also train on the spinning bike. Thanks for any and all info! :)

Only 5 Days Left until the 2nd Annual Ride to Save a Suicide!!!
The 2nd Annual Ride to Save a Suicide is August 15th! There is a 23.5 mile ride and 40 mile race! Many of us have been personally affected from the loss from suicide. There were 172 family members, friends, co-workers, etc lost last year in El Paso county to suicide. The proceeds of the ride go to the Suicide Prevention Partnership of the Pikes Peak Region to help save lives. Please come out and ride to raise awareness about suicide. Visit www.firstgiving.com/spp for more information or to register.

Hey to all, I signed up for the Centurion 100 on July 18th and is wondering if anybody is riding in the event? Even if you do the 50, or 25 I was thinking it would be fun to hang out the night before the ride and have a few beers get some food. I'm sure most people will be staying up there the night before?? Let me know. Beardenselectric@gmail.com

Jacks was re-routed and finished on Saturday. Not as cool as the good old trail but cooler than not having a trail. Ride it - have fun. Many thanks to anyone who showed up to help. It is not all work - i got to do some rock building - just a differnet kind of sand box than what i had as a kid.

Hi to all,
Cheyenne mountain state park race pre-ride. I will pre- ride the race course on Saturday the 29th with Scott - wheels turning at 10:00 a.m. from the visitors lot for anyone who is interested. - Anyone - all abilities and/or non-club memeber welcome. Plan will be to ride one lap at a no drop pace so everyone can check out the lines etc and not tire out. Then a second lap - free for all - regroup twice on the climp and down hill for those who want that. Please let me know if you are interested. Even if you are not racing - come and ride the course - nice place to ride. Please: wheels turning at 10 so show up as early as you need to be ready, tube, pump, tool, light jacket just in case, and please leave the headphones at home.
Thanks,
Nick

Every Tues there is a training ride with the Pro-Cycling guys. They meet at the round house, and leave at 5:30. They alternate each week between Road and Mtn bike. The ride on 4/27 was road bike, on 5/4 it will be Mtn. Most of the ride is tempo in the Broadmoor neighborhoods, with some climbs, this week was Farthing DR, the Zoo climb(Marland Rd), and the hills on Cresta.
I've not done the Mtn bike rides, but those are mostly around Bear Creek. -
