This event is confirmed.  We are going to add in an optional ride down and back (see below the main event for details).  If you are doing the main ride no need to contact me.  However, if you're doing the extra please confirm that by also sending Adam a text (719) 351-8076 with the location where you will meet in the morning.  We must stay on time in order to meet the main event on time.

Will see you then! - Adam

Main Event Details:

START: 8am arrival time with 8:10am roll-out
LOCATION: Fountain Library Parking Lot
ROUTE: Strava Route - HFD Breakfast Loop - 40 miles with 1,500 feet climb
FOCUS: Group will ride together out of town and try to stay together as much as possible.  Some rolling hill make this tricky on the first leg.  14+ mph overall average but some sections might dabble into 16-18+ mph.  Faster riders can ride ahead to the regroup or double back to add miles.
REGROUP: Regroups will occur at each change of direction - northeast corner, southeast corner (with breakfast) and southwest corner
SAFETY: Traffic is very light and for the most part the road is in good condition.
LEADER CONTACT: Adam J (719) 351-8076

Start, Route & Ride

Meet in the Fountain Library parking lot at 8am and be ready to get wheels rolling no later than 8:10am (we've got to make breakfast before they close).

The route is 40 miles with around 1,500 feet of elevation gain.  You can view the route online for more details.  It will be a no-drop ride with a full regroup at food.  Typical pace is 14+ (often times in the 16-18 mph range) with options for faster riders to go ahead and could double back.

Optional Ride down and back:

START & LOCATION: 6:30am from Criterium OR 6:50am from America the Beautiful (meet at the fountain).  Please RSVP to Adam via text with the location you will meet (719) 351-8076

ROUTE: This is our general route minus the first 5 miles and last 5 miles that I took to my house - Down to Fountain + Squirrel Creek + Back to Town.

FOCUS, SAFETY & REGROUP: The down and back parts of this ride will be a faster pace than the loop and on busier roads than the main route.  Riders need to be prepared for a much bigger day both physically with training and preparation with hydration/food/mechanical fixes.  We will make sure that no one is left behind without a plan, but the group needs to maintain about an 18 mph average in order to make it to the start of the main route on time.  If you have any questions please email info@socovelo.com

Hydration & Fuel

In the event that the fire department is not doing breakfast, make sure to be prepared with enough food and water in case.  But if they are (most likely they are)...around the halfway point the group will stop at the Hanover Fire Station to eat.  As of April 2022 they have the ability to take a card but they also accept cash.  I estimate around 5 dollars would set you up plus it's nice to drop a good tip since it's a fundraiser.

Typically the group will finish before noon back at the library. Please RSVP if you'll be attending so those going will know who to look for.

Non-Members Welcome with a Waiver

This event is open to all club members and non-members as well.  If you are a non-member you must complete a digital waiver ahead of the event.  That waiver can be found at this link, doesn't cost any money and can be done with a guest account: https://www.bikereg.com/48974

Happy Riding
