Air Force Academy 32 Mile Road Ride

We’ll do the classic Air Force Academy loop clockwise twice, and on the first lap, we’ll add in the West Monument Creek out-and-back climb. You can customize your effort by increasing/decreasing the number of loops you do, or skipping the Creek climb. As a bonus, there may be a car show to see after the ride in the Bass Pro parking lot.

Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43043807, 32 miles, with 2,600+ ft of climbing

Ride Type: A no-drop ride, with opportunities for efforts on the climbs (hill repeats for the ambitious?), and regrouping.  Rear lights required. 

Start Location Details: Take a right off of Bass Pro Drive at Kaycee Case Place into the parking lot, then if the car show is setting up, immediately go right again and head past where the show is setting up. If there is no show, we can gather by that parking lot entrance in the southeast section of the lot.   

Ride/Road Conditions to Note:

• You must have a valid photo ID to get on base, so please ensure you have your driver’s license or military ID
• Pine Drive in particular, and also some of the other roads, have broken pavement on the right side of the road where the asphalt meets the concrete curb. This creates spots in the road that can catch a wheel if you drift too far right. 
• There has been some paving work occurring recently, so I’ll check the conditions close to the ride date, and update the route if road work necessitates.

• Mile 9.1: Top of West Monument Creek
  
• Mile 11.8: Top of Pine Drive by the hospital, lap 1
  
• Mile 15.1: Scenic overlook, lap 1 
  
• Mile 24.4: Top of Pine Drive by the hospital, lap 2 
  
• Mile 27.7: Scenic overlook, lap  2
  
• We will regroup elsewhere along the way as needed if the group splits up too much
